Uhhhh I am sheepish, you guys.
Guess what has two thumbs and doesn't work in a bakery?
Worst news ever, right?
Turns out the guy I was supposed to replace isn't quitting anymore.
So I'm bumped, until further notice.
|I'm having doubts about the wisdom of this orange plate.|
I'LL GET YOU, FLAKY DUDE!
I promptly went home and made a batch of sadness cookies. They'll be up in a week or so.
Most disappointing thing? I only ate a couple of chocolate chip cookies while I had access to all the cookies for free.
So many regrets.
Oh well. Best one day job I ever had, and who knows, maybe flaky dude will quit after all?
Here's hoping, flaky dude! Here's hoping.
Minty Chocolate Brownies
Who doesn't love the flavor of chocolate and mint crammed together? If you don't, GET OUT. This is a chocolate mint town/blog. (Please stay, I like you. I just lost my job and I'm kinda down right now and lashing out emotionally. Don't go).
3/4 c flour
1 t baking powder
1/2 t salt
1/2 c butter
3 oz unsweetened chocolate
1/2 c brown sugar
1/2 c granulated sugar
2 large eggs
1 large egg yolk
1 t vanilla
1/2 c semisweet chocolate chips
Preheat oven to 350. Grease and flour an 8 inch baking pan.
Whisk together flour, baking powder and salt and set aside.
Melt your unsweetened chocolate and butter together over a double boiler (or a pan carefully placed atop another pan of boiling water). Once melted, remove from heat and whisk in brown and granulated sugars. Whisk in eggs, yolk and vanilla. Add the flour mixture, all at once, and fold together until well-incorporated. Fold in chocolate chips last of all.
Pour into prepared pan and bake 25 - 30 minutes, until a skewer or toothpick inserted into center of brownies comes out clean. Remove from oven and cool completely before frosting.
3 c powdered sugar
1 c butter
1 T vanilla
3 T milk
1/4 c cocoa
1 t pepermint extract
green food coloring
Mix together powdered sugar and butter on medium-high speed for 3 minutes. Add vanilla and milk, and mix together on medium 1 minute longer.
Divide frosting into two bowls. Mix 1/4 c cocoa into one bowl. This is your chocolate frosting. Mix peppermint extract and a few drops of green food coloring into the other bowl. There is your mint.
Frost first with mint, and top with chocolate. If you want perfect layers, put the brownies in the refrigerator for 15 minutes between coats. I like them kinda swirly, so I skipped that part.
